Hills
This is a major factor for Britannia Heights, the Port Hills, Tahunanui Hills and some areas of Atawhai where the right-of-ways are narrow, driveways are steep, or where there is not enough turning space for a 50 cubic metre truck. Where the linehaul truck cannot get to the front door, the load is transferred to a smaller truck and takes longer. If there is any doubt about access, it is better to tell us when booking, with a picture of the driveway, than to find the truck is blocked at the bottom.
The ferry
The ferry is one more variable. To get from Nelson up to the North Island you must drive on State Highway 6 through the Rai Valley to Picton, and then take a ferry over Cook Strait – these can be cancelled at any time due to large swells in the sea. A conservative course of action involves a one- or two-day margin of error and safely storing parcels if the ferry is unable to leave rather than guaranteeing being in Wellington at the said time.
The following routes usually have simple road jobs, with the exception of longer drives, unsealed roads, or when the house is heavily furnished: Richmond, Brightwater, Wakefield, Māpua, and Motueka. For Golden Bay longer distances apply, so this should be taken into account for the quote.

House and Flat Moves
We pad the furniture with blankets, lay blankets on doorways if required, and ensure the load is strapped in securely. We can also provide a packing service or take pre-packed boxes.
Packing Services
Cartons, wrap, paper and wardrobe boxes are supplied at the time of booking a packing service. Glassware, kitchenware, artwork and framed objects are wrapped and labelled according to room. Customers who plan to pack themselves are asked if they are interested in dropping off cartons before moving day.
Office Moves
Desks, IT, archives, shop fit-outs moved in and around Nelson CBD or Richmond. Flexible hours to complete the move out of hours in order to have the premises ready to go in the morning.
Heavy and Special Items
The removal of pianos or heavy items like an upright piano, a loaded credenza, or workshop equipment requires the use of a tail-lift, straps and staff capable of carrying and traversing stairs with heavy items. Access issues for steep streets require a site visit, not rough estimates.

Local jobs by the hour are charged door to door. Inter-island quotes are fixed by volume and crossing requirements (including ferry freight). Under the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017 the Carrier is at risk. Transit cover is separate – ask us about the excess.
Booking Process
A week or two should be scheduled prior to required weekday local moves to have a higher likelihood of availability. Three to four weeks in advance will ensure scheduling in the period of month-end and Fridays from November to February. Delays in scheduling can be expected for trips involving the ferry.
